Biography

Benjamin was born in 1763. He passed away in February 1816, according to the pension records of his wife Elizabeth Daniell Davis.

Not likely that he is the Benjamin Davis who married Mary Britton 11 Dec 1782 in SC. His Rev War files states he was in Rev War in Chatham Co NC from 1777-1783. Also not locating any source that he was a Minister, yet Rev Benjamin is listed in various trees. Needs to be sourced.

Elizabeth Daniel Davis, files for Rev War pension on 24 Feb 1845 Walton Co GA. States they married on the 15th Jan 1786 Chatham Co NC and removed to Burke Co GA formerly now Jefferson Co where her husband died 1816.

Benjamin Davis served from Chatham Co NC 02 May 1777 for 3 yrs in Capt. Shepherd, 10th Reg NC Continental line. Commanded by Col Abraham Shepherd, discharged in Chatham NC at his fathers house in 1780. Reenlisted July/Aug 1782 for 18 mos., under Capt. Wm Gholston in Col Lytle's NC Militia. Served 11/18 mos. as war ended. Services says he marched to Ashley Hill SC & St James Island near Charleston SC and 18 mos. in NC NOTE: no military cards found in 10th Reg or Continental Line of Fold3.com

Letters from Micajah Brooks of Paulding Co GA dated 13 Feb 1845 states he knew Benjamin Davis as they lived in the same neighborhood in Chatham Co NC and he knew of his service. Letter from Joseph Harrinen? of Walton Co GA dated 24 Jul 1845, knew Benjamin Davis in Chatham Co NC.

24 Feb 1845 Affidavit given by John B Davis stating Elizabeth is his mother, stating father died Feb 1816 Jefferson Co GA

24 Feb 1845 Newton Co GA Affidavit given by George Daniel states he was born in Chatham Co NC and that his father removed to Burke Co GA formerly now Jefferson Co GA. of being in the year 1786 and that he recalls distinctly well that Nancy Davis the eldest child of Benjamin Davis and Elizabeth Davis was born in the winter of the same years, and that he recollects the above date from the date of his own age as he was 3 yrs old in September the same month and year that they reached Benjamin Davis house in Burke Co GA

There is a bible record in the Rev War file which Elizabeth stated that Wiley Belcher wrote in her bible per her request and the marriage date, and some information and he was now deceased.

Benjamin Davis and Elizabeth Daniel were said to have 12 children per statement in Bible in Rev War Pension file. The Bible info Benjamin Davis was married to Elizabeth Davis on January 15, 1786 Nancy Davis was born 8th of December 1786 And lived together until B Davis died. we had 12 children the youngest was born Oct 11 1813 (no name stated)

Thomas B Moon was married to Emeliann Davis the 12th of August in the year of our lord 1823 all others listed are Moon children

"John Cock, the son . . His wife was Miss Lydia Davis, also a native of Burke Co born May 17, 1791 and a dau of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Daniel) Davis. . .
