He married Elizabeth Funk (1835-7) in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of:
Sarah Catherine Davis (Cavin) (Calbeck) born June 2, 1839[1]
Samuel Harvey Davis, born 1842. Pennsylvannia;
Caroline Davis (Sprew ) (1847-1920) Ohio;
Elias Walter Davis, born in Lindsey, Ohio on August 7, 1848; and
Elmira, born in 1851 in Indiana.
In 1850 they were living in Pike Township, Stark County, Ohio. In 1860 and 1870 they were living in St. Joseph Township, Allen County, Indiana.
Walter died suddenly October 28, 1871 from a fall while driving his wagon . The Fort Wayne Gazette October 31, 1871 quoted the testimony at the coroner's Inquest and the verdict of the Jury. The story is quoted here at Ancestors of Esther Leona Davis. He was buried at White City Cemetery,
