Biography

Barbara Davis was born to John Davis and Mary Hutsell circa 1774 in Virginia. This Davis family was Lutheran of German descent, and the original surname was something that sounded close to Davis when said in German to English scribes. [1]

Marriage

Barbara married Joseph Fanning Apr 8, 1790 in Montgomery Co. Va.

Children

Known children include:

  1. John
  2. Robert,
  3. George,
  4. Joseph Jr.,
  5. Abraham,
  6. Jacob,
  7. Mary Walker,
  8. Delilah Houston,
  9. Sampson,
  10. Davis
  11. Andrew Jackson Fanning.

In the Fall of 1819, son Sampson, age 11, was allowed to move to IL from AL by his older brothers George and Joseph Jr, against the wishes of their father, Joseph Sr. Apparently Sampson did not like his new stepmother.

Death

Barbara died circa 1818 at Lauderdale County, Alabama. Joseph died circa 1849 at Carroll County, Arkansas and was buried at Parker Cemetery, Arkansas. [2]

Davis-24397 and Davis-17523 do not represent the same person because: I have thoroughly researched my Barbara Davis-24397 and although some of the info matches not enought for me to accept a merge. Also I know that Davis-24397 is buried in Carroll County Arkansas not Alabama. I have seen her headstone.
