Biography

Parents - Joshua Davis and Sarah Pierpont

Caleb was the first speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives under the Constitution, Oct 25 1780. He married 30 Sep 1760, (1)Hannah Ruggles, daughter of Samuel Ruggles.

Spouse2: Mary Ann Lewis Bant m. 1783 d. 1787

Spouse3: Eleanor Cheever. They had Dau: Eliza Cheever Davis

Caleb Davis held several positions of public trust, including state legislator, 1776–1788; Speaker of the Massachusetts General Court, 1780–1782; and Elector for Massachusetts' Suffolk County in the first U.S. presidential election in 1789. (His Honor Caleb Davis preferred to be called by his title of Deacon)
