Biography

Squire Davis (aka John Adolphus, without source) was born about Jan. 1815 in Indiana per his 1900 census[1]. He was the son of John Davis and an unknown mother. His father was in Orange County, Indiana, in the 1830 Census so he may have been born there, but it's not certain. An older brother, Bluford, was born in Kentucky around 1810, so the family apparently relocated from Kentucky to Indiana between 1810 and 1815.

Marriages

First, Squire married Hannah Ann Bush on 19 December 1844 in Orange County, Indiana; officiant was E.L. Kemp, M.G.[2]. Rev. Kemp also married Squire's brother, John, in 1845 in Orange County, Indiana. Also see the discussion on the Research Notes for John Davis.

Second, Squire married Catherine Jane Fry on 9 February 1854 in Orange County, Indiana [source needed], the daughter of Benjamin Fry. Catherine and her family were on the same 1850 census page as Squire's brother, John, Jr. in Illinois[3].
