• These are the texts of the Newspaper Clips that I have in my possession.

• Mr. Jeff Davis, died at the home of his father in Tula on Dec 23 after a lingering illness of two or three months He had lived for the last eight or ten years in Oxford, in the employment of Bishop & Stall until his health failed him. Jeff, as he was familiary known was an upright, honest, christian gentleman, and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. His friends were numbered by his acquaintance.
  

He joined the Methodist Church at Tula at about eleven years of age and lived a devoted., consecrated christian life. He spent about 25 years of his life in the service of his Lord. His remains were interred `in the Liberty Cemetery on Christmas Eve amidst a number of grief stricken relatives and Friends, Rev T. G. Johnson, of Toccopola, conducting the funeral services.
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches
And loving kindness than much silvre and gold.

This may be the Robert A. Davis that RWD has been unable to find after the Civil War ^[18]

• Mr. William Davis of New Albany but of Tula, died Saturday and was buried at Tula Monday. Mr, Davis was 33 years old, a son of Mr, R. Davis and brother of our townsman Jeff Davis. He leaves a widow and five small Children. We extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends.
