Obituary

Albert Davis was born Feb. 7, 1832, in East Rochester, Ohio. He was united in marriage with Lydia M. Taylor, Nov. 22, 1853. They moved to Kansas in 1878 and located at St. George, moving to Manhattan in 1879. In 1887 they moved to Scott Co., Kansas, and remained there until 1898, when they returned to Manhattan and made their home with their son, C.C. Davis, at 611 Colorado St.
Lydia M. Davis died Sept. 22, 1902, and after her death Mr. Davis went with his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Criss to Anaheim, Cal.
Death came suddenly on Sunday morning, Feb. 25, 1917, at the home of Mrs. Criss. The deceased had been in his usual health and had continued his usual habit of arising early until the last. He did not rise at his usual time and his son-in-law, Wm. Criss, went to his room to see what was wrong. He found him taking his last sleep.
Deceased was eighty-five years of age, having celebrated his birthday on Feb. 7. Just the day previous to his birthday he was taken suddenly ill, but later rallied. He was a member of the Masonic order, the Grand Army of the Republic, and was by faith a Methodist.
There were ten children, two of whom died in infancy.
He is survived by eight children, F.F. Davis, C.C. Davis, Mrs. Wm. Criss of Anaheim, California; David Davis of Schaller, Iowa; Mrs. E.B. Bachellor of Seattle, Washington; Mrs. J.M. Fiester and Sarah Davis of Cushing, Oklahoma; and Nathan Davis of Fullerton, California. Also thirty-four grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
