Considering the frailty of man and the uncertainty of life, I will to my son-in-law and to his wf Ann Porter the negro Sue; I will to my son Andrew Davies the negro Colburn; to my son-in-law James McEwen the negro boy Ben; to my son-in-law Joseph Beaty and wf Margaret the negro Fite; to my son William Davies an English Crown L1; to my Son on-in-law Wm. Scott and wf Betsy Scott the negro Silas and an English Crown; and to my dau Mary Davies the negroes Jess and Mille, a mare with saddle and bridle her clothes, a bed and furniture, and her share of my house furniture. I give to my son John the tract of land that I live on, as well as a parcel that I received in exchange with heath, the remainder of the parcel traded to Heath, his saddle and clothing, the negro Rone, my bed and furniture, a set of plow irons and tackling for two horses, half of the table furniture, a table and cupboard, and a share of the pots with Polly and Owen (surnames omitted). My books are to be divided equally among all my children. If Mary or John Davies die without children, the negroes willed to them are to be returned to my exrs who are to sell them for the benefit of surviving children with children of their own.
