Charles Davis was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia in 1938. At age 16 his parents moved to Ohio. Charles then lived in Clarksburg with his aunt, Beryl Van Horn and worked at a roller rink in Nutter Fort. He was drafted by the army at age 18 and served at Fort Knox and Fort Meade (Maryland). When he left the military he briefly lived with his cousin, Frances Starkey, and her husband, Harve Starkey, in Walkersville, Maryland. He then moved to Cleveland, Ohio and lived in an apartment near E.105th and St. Clair Ave. He worked at a Sunoco gas station at E.118th and St. Clair Ave. While working at the gas station he met his wife, Evelyn Peters. They were married in 1965 and had a son in 1968 and another in 1974. Charles was employed by Clevite (sold to Gould Inc., then sold to Westinghouse, then sold to Northrop Grumman) at the "Torpedo Plant" where he was a truck driver. He was forced to retire at age 62 due to the plant closing. He then worked for a few years for Willo Transportation. He suffered from dementia for the final two years of his life and died at age 76 from heart failure. He is buried in Chardon, Ohio.
