Nathaniel Davis, son of Barnabas and Patience (James) Davis was born about 1642. [1] probably at Charlestown, Massachusetts [2]
He married first Mary Converse on March 31, 1675 at Woburn, Massachusetts. [2][3] Mary was born December 29, 1656, daughter of Lt. James and Anna (Long) Converse. [4] She was admitted to the church at Charlestown on April 15, 1676, as Mary, wife of Nathaniel Davis. [5]
Mary, wife of Nathaniel, died at Charlestown on November 6, 1691. [6]
James Converse wrote his will on August 28, 1712. In it he states should my wife remarry, or after her decease, my estate should be divided in five equal parts including one part to the children of my daughter Mary Davice, deceased. [7]
He married second Mary Edmunds at Charlestown on July 15, 1692. [2][5]
Nathaniel was a glazier and sawyer. Nathaniel died May 1724.
Nathaniel died intestate and his personal estate inventory, valued at L135: 02: 03 was taken on June 5, 1724. On June 8, 1724, son Zachariah Davis was granted administration of his father Nathaniel's estate. [8]
On January 4, 1727 son Zachariah submitted an accounting of land sold by his father after his mother's death in May, 1721 as well as his involvement in the care of his father since that time. His sister Mary also submitted an affidavit to the land sales, their mother's and father's funeral and other expenses, and her involvement in the care of her father for several years. [8]
On April 5, 1728, Zachariah provided the court with a summary of expenses related to his 'sister (Elizabeth) Kidder' who received L14: 2: 6 at the time of her marriage, but returned to her father's house in September, 1718 after her husband's death. She later had a child who died of smallpox. Zachariah stated she had lost her 'reason' and wished to have expenses related to her care until 1721, as well as expenses for the child's burial etc. taken into account. [8]
