Holbert was born in 1900 (Death record says Dec 25). He started working as a laborer, but later on his occupation is listed in the census and on his death certificate as laundry worker with his family. He was married twice, the first time at age 16 (1930 census) or 18. In 1940, he and his wife (Jimmie Lee) and their children lived with her sister at 936 Jefferson St, Nashville TN. They still lived there in 1942. Holbert Davis died suddenly of a heart attack in his sister’s home on July 30 1942 and was buried in Bryant Town (Bryanttown) Cemetery. His wife Jimmie Lee survived him.
