↑ Source: #S669 9 December 1908 Mr. Swanson T. David, one of the Mobile's best known citizens, died yesterday morning at 4:30 o'clock at a local infirmary after an illness of long duration necessitating an operation. He was born in Mississippi and came to Mobile county many years ago and resided here in the green grocery business with his son, Mr. Arthur Davis. He leaves besides his son, his wife, three other sons, Messrs. Walter Davis of Texas; Charles and John Davis, the lattter being a student of Spring Hill College; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Wittman, Mrs. Crigler, Mrs. R.J. Dudley and other relatives, who have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. Notice of the funeral will be found in another column.
↑ Source: #S669 Funeral of Mr. Swanson T. Davis The funeral of the late Mr. Swanson T. Davis took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the family home on Dauphin Way, fourth west of Foote's Lane, and was largely attended by relatives and friends of the deceased from both the city and county. Rev. W.J.E. Cox, pastor of the St. Francis Street Baptist church officiated. The remains were laid to rest in Magnolia cemetery, where a number of handsome floral tributes were placed upon the new-made grave. The pallbearers were Messrs. J.M. Crenshaw, Elliot G. Rickarby, R.Z. Williams, W.J. Denton, George R. Haas, Thomas Settle, Thomas Davis, and J. L. Elsworth.
