In Scott Country Virginia Faces and Places, Don Davis said that Samuel Davis was born 1809 in Scott County. He was married to Barbary Lane. They had at least three sons who served in Civil War. One was William Davis. Civil War records show that William served with the Confederate Army against his will. He later was able to escape and joined the union army, Company B, 45th Kentucky mounted infantry.

Davis-23425 and Davis-4244 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse, same daughter. Need to figure out which parents are correct or if these are 2 separate people, with a different spouse.
