Biography

Rebecca was born in about 1842. Rebecca Davis ... [1]

No more info is currently available for Rebecca Davis. Can you add to her biography? In 1850, 40 year old Isaac Fleetwood and wife Winny of Ozark, Missouri, United States, have Rebecca Davis in their household, aged 9, born in MO. In 1860, 18 year old Rebecca (Rebeca) was wife to 21 year old Isaac C. Fleetwood, in household 255, listed just after the 254 household of older Isaac & Winny Fleetwood, at Post Office: Falling Spring, in Douglas County, Missouri. On the following page. this July 1860 census lists Jane S aged 1/12. but later censuses show James S. Fleetwood.

On the 1870 Census, Rebecca Fleetwood is listed at home with 10 year old James S. and Boyd Fleetwood, again next door to the elder Isaac and Margaret age 49, with some of the same children, in addition to a 19 year old named John Davis, “clerk in store”. In 1870, Isaac C was not listed at home with Rebecca and their two sons, but was listed on a 1870 census in the Hogan household. He married Drucilla in 1871 in Marion county, Arkansas. The date of death for Rebecca Davis Fleetwood, or if she divorced Isaac, is unknown. Her burial place is unknown. Her son Boyd is on 1880 census in Marion, Arkansas with Isaac and Drucilla and their children. This seems to confirm that the same Isaac was Boyd’s father with Rebecca, while a few years later, he married Drucilla and started a family with her. His son James disappeared from our search, but we hope others can sort out the names to find Rebecca and son James. Her son Boyd Fleetwood settled in Izard county, Arkansas.

Isaac C. Fleetwood had 2 wives, Druceller Hogan being the 2nd. I cannot find Rebecca Davis Fleetwood's death date, nor the marriage date of the first wife. I know that all these children listed are Rebecca's, only James S. & Boyd. Boyd seems to be hers, and James, an older son, but the rest are Drucilla’s with Isaac. . I do think the siblings were fairly close. The ones who moved to OK & died there seem to have later birthdates, all after Isaac married Drucilla Hogan in Marion County, Arkansas, in 1871. Before 1900, Isaac had moved his family with Drusilla to Oklahoma. Boyd and his family stayed in Arkansas, settling in Izard County, Arkansas. I have not found where James settled, but he was working and living with a family named Ashley, on 1880 census, in Missouri . My own aunt told me of the OK family of Fleetwoods coming to visit AR relatives back in her youth, in the 1920's or '30's. Boyd died in 1940, so I believe it was before that.

Thank you, Cathy Fleetwood Landers
