In 1861, Jones Co. MS, Alfred Davis joined the Civil War, as a Pvt. in Captain James Johnson's Co. In January 1862, he was on sick furlough and brought home by his brother-in-law, Peter Williams and subsequently died of typhoid pneumonia at Peter's home. Alfred Davis is buried near his home in Taylorsville, MS.
