Professor Richard McGillivray Dawkins (1871-1955) was the son of Rear-Admiral Richard Dawkins & his wife Mary Louisa née McGillivray.
He was a British archaeologist. He was associated with the British School at Athens, of which he was Director between 1906 and 1913.
He was the first Bywater and Sotheby Professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek Language and Literature at the University of Oxford.
He died aged 83, unmarried, in 1995.
