Biography

Sarah Day was born 21 April 1734 in Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts.[1]

On 9 December 1754, in Gloucester, she married William Stacy.[2] William was the son of Nymphas and Hannah (Littlehale) Stacy, b. about 1734.[3] William and Sarah's first two children, William and Joseph, were born in Gloucester.

Sometime between 1757 and 1759, the family moved to New Salem, in western Massachusetts. Their remaining children (Sarah, Benjamin, Nymphas, Elizabeth, John, Philomon, and Gideon) were born in New Salem.

In 1788, William travelled to Marietta, Ohio, where he spent the year. In 1789, he returned to New Salem for his family. He, his wife Sarah, and their children (Joseph Stacy and family, John Stacy, Philemon Stacy, Gideon Stacy and son-in-law Sylvanus Newton and daughter Elizabeth) arrived in Marietta on 25 November 1789.[4]

Sarah died in Marrietta, on 6 Mar 1790.[5]
