Biography

According to C.N. Dayton (the genealogist), David Dayton lived in the Quaker section of Round Hill, CT. As a youth, David ran away from home due to "injustice and unkind treatment" according to his son, Gilbert Sullivan Dayton. David was a wall layer and farm laborer.

1860 census shows household of David Dayton (age 63) in Greenwich Township, Conn, including wife Sally (46) and children Elizabeth (15), Gilbert (10) and Charles (9).
