↑ David's death certificate states that he was born 17 March 1864 in "New Quick," Virginia, but that year is clearly incorrect. It also provides the names of his parents. The informant was his brother, Charles W. Dayton. The 1900 census states that he was born in March 1857, and that date is consistent with his age in the 1860 census, when he lived in his parents household.Ohio Department of Health, Division of Vital Statistics, death certificate no. 22144 (1939), David Franklin Dayton, 14 April 1939, Belmont County; digital image, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-G5W2-7FY?i=1285&cc=1307272 : accessed January 2019). 1900 U.S. Census, Marshall County, West Virginia, population schedule, Liberty District, enumeration district 70, stamped page 72, sheet 8A, dwelling 143, family 143, David F.
