Uncertain Existence

This profile is based on text published in the second edition of The Demarest Family [1] which was copied from the first edition.[2] The medieval section of the first edition was by Louis P. De Boer, and was a translation which did not acknowledge its Dutch source in H. J. Koenen's Het Geslacht De Marez.[3] Koenen stated that the medieval genealogy was presented as "geheel voor rekening van Le Carpentier en pater Le Vaillant, daar we niet in de gelegenheid zijn hun betrouwbaarheid te controleeren" (entirely as communicated by [Jean-Baptiste] Le Carpentier and Father Le Vaillant, because we are not in a position to check their reliability). However, Jean-Baptiste Carpentier is now known to have produced fraudulent genealogies with forged 'proofs' and nothing he wrote can be taken as evidence unless corroborated by independent, original sources (see Carpentier Frauds). Unless these are found, this profile should be regarded as of Uncertain Existence. Millard-1402 21:03, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

La Saulx-1 and De la Saulx-6 appear to represent the same person because: This stray match needs a merge into the PPP. No tree conflicts. Thanks!
