Douglas' "Baronage of Scotland," page 194, says of this William Blair --
"II. WILLIAM BLAIR of that ilk, who succeeded him [i.e. the first William de Blair], and, in a charter of king Alexander III. to the abbacy of Dunfermline about the year 1260, is designed Willielmus de Blair dominus de eodem.
"He left issue two sons.
"1. Sir Bryce, his heir.
"2. David, who carried on the line of this family.
"He was succeeded by his eldest son,
"III. Sir BRYCE BLAIR of that ilk, . . . ."
For the 1260 charter above, Douglas cites "Chartulary of Dunfermline, and Nisbet, vol. I. p. 2."
In comparison, James Paterson's later "History of Ayrshire," page 413, says this:
"II. William, who, in a charter of Alexander III., to the Abbey of Dunfermline, about 1260, is styled Willielmus de Blair, Dominus de eodem. He left two sons, Bryce and David. He was succeeded by the eldest,
