Biography

Mike DeWine is an American politician. He was elected as Governor of the state of Ohio in 2019.[1]

Richard Michael "Mike" DeWine was born in the Springfield, Ohio on January 5th, 1947 and grew up in Yellow Springs, Ohio. His parents were Richard Lee DeWine and Jean Ruth Liddle. They ran a seed company in Yellow Springs in the same location where his grandparents had a feed store.[2]

Mike DeWine is married and has eight children. He and his wife met in first grade and married while students at Miami University in Ohio.[2][3]

Mike DeWine earned a Bachelors degree from Miami University [Ohio] in 1969 and a law degree from Ohio Northern University in 1972. His political career began in 1976 when he was elected to be the Greene County Prosecutor. Some of his more notable political positions since then include:[4]

  • US House of Representatives, representing Ohio's 7th District, 1983-1991
  • Lieutenant Governor of Ohio, 1991-1994
  • US Senator from Ohio, 1995-2007
  • Attorney General of Ohio, 2011-2019
  • Governor of Ohio, 2019-
