Peter DeWitt resided Frankford township, Sussex County, New Jersey, married 11 Apr 1773 Mary Predmore b. c. 1755. He is perhaps the Peter DeWitt of Frankford who purchased 43 acres in Frankford from Mary Ludlum and James Ludlum, trustees of the estate of Gabriel Ludlum, dated 2 Mar 1803, recorded 15 Feb 1806. Will of Peter dated 22 June 1811 "being advanced in years." Son, Philip, $25; son Abraham, dau Ellenor, each $50; dau Lydia DeWitt, $75; stone wall around grave of deceased wife. Remainder to nine children, Peter Jr., James, John, Philip, Abraham, Mary wife of George Zabriskie, Anna wife of Dr. Dunn, Ellenor DeWitt and Lydia DeWitt as they come of age. Codicil dated 27 Dec 1816 revoking $50 to son Abraham and same to daughter Anna. Inventory dated 31 Dec 1816 in the amount of $6,376.47. Will proved 1 Jan 1817.
