11. Elmeden, William. Inq. p.m. taken 28 October [1448] at Bishop Auckland. William, aged 11, is his son and next heir. Hugh Bishop of Durham had without the consent of the chapter of Durham conveyed to Johu Botiler, his servant, and his heirs certain lands being part of the manor of Queryngdon. These lands, under the name of the manor of Trillesden, Botiler had conveyed to William Bowes and others. The said William Bowes and others conveyed the same to William Elmeden and his heirs. Further the said William Elmeden had conveyed his manors of Elmeden, Est morton and Pelowe and lands,& c., in Preston on Teese and Gaytside to William Bowes and others, who re-conveyed the same to him and his heirs.
