Biography

Translated: A(e)l(d)ert Heymensz is mentioned for the first time in the baptismal certificate of his daughter Neelke in 1655, where we also read that his wife is called Wijlke Ariens de Jongh. The first indication that Aeldert will also carry the Ro(o)sa family name later is found in the following deed:

Hi Cathi,

There were a lot of duplicates for many New Netherland Settler families imported in the past and (unfortunately) there still are a lot of new duplicates created for them. Some were imported (or created) with modernized or backwards projected names and some with wrong names, and sometimes merges went wrong (before we had projects and PPP), so a lot of families had to be sorted out and corrected, all duplicates had to be merged away.

So to hopefully prevent new duplicates, with perhaps the same wrong names or other errors, is why all variations of the names (first and last names) (from all duplicates) are added to the different fields now.

There also was not much consistency those days in how names were spelled or written, people wrote phonetically, so that's why Wijlken also was written as Wijntjen or perhaps with a different spelling as well in church and other records/deeds.. so adding deeds/wills and church records can help to determine the correct names/variations of the names, and if for example these deeds/church records show the names Lavina/Wilhelmina were really not used by this person we can eventually remove those.

Dutch people (and/or others) using patronymics, didn't use or know middle names, so a patronymic isn't the same as or a middle name, it's either a LNAB (if the earliest records show a person with just the patronymic, or the patronymic is added to the first name (and preferred name field) if a person did use a familyname for last name but a patronymic as well.

Hope it explains things a bit more and greets from the Netherlands,

Bea :)

Suggestion Take the name:

"Wyntje Arians de Jonge" and in the Biography Section have a section called =Different Spellilngs of the name=

  • Different spellings for the 1st name section "Wyntje" = Wijlke, Wilhelmina . . .etc.
  • Different spellings for the middle name Section " Arians" = Ariens. . .etc.
  • Different Spellings for the last name section: "de Jonge" = De Jongh. . .etc.

Where does the name " Lavinia" come from. . .etc. Is that the Americanized name for either her first or middle section of the name.

Just a thought. . .

De Jonge-2428 and De Jongh-86 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. Ancestors of duplicated family trees. Unless there is evidence that she used her husband's last name, that name should not appear as her Current Last Name.

De Jonge-91 and De Jongh-86 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge. No tree conflicts. These matches have been reviewed by the New Netherland Settlers Merge Approval System, and the "Green" destination NNS profile is protected as PPP, and the "Merge Pending" profile is now ready and able to be merged into it. I saved the data to the bios. Thanks!
