Biography

This profile is part of the Dearborn Name Study.

Samuel Dearborn was born on January 27, 1670[see Research Note] in Hampton, New Hampshire, son of Henry Dearborn (1633–1725) and Elizabeth Marrian (~1644–~1716).[1][2]

Samuel married Mercy Batcheller; daughter of Jane Carter (Wyman) Batcheller).

Samuel (24) married Mercy Batchelder (16) (born on December 11, 1677 in Hampton, Rockingham; daughter of Nathaniel Batchelder Jr. and Mary (Carter) Batchelder) on July 12, 1694.[3] Their children were:

Samuel Dearborn, son of Henry, married July 12, 1694, Mercy, daughter of Nathaniel Batchelder; settled where Lawrence Dearborn's old house stood, in North Hampton (Dow - p666)

Samuel died after 1746 in North Hampton, New Hampshire, aged 75, and was buried at Upper Yard Burial Ground, Kensington, Rockingham, New Hampshire, United States. (His FindAGrave memorial has a death date of 16 December 1748, but no date is discernable in the photo of the headstone.)[4]

Date of Birth

Birth records for Samuel list the date as 27 11mo 1669. This is often interpreted as 27 November 1669, but at the time of Samuel's birth, the new year began in March making the 11th month January. By modern reconning, that date is equivalent to 27 January 1670.
