Biography

My name is Gay D. Roden. I am a Chickasaw Indian (1/16) and registered with the US Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs. My parents were living in Kermit, Winkler, Texas at the time of my birth but my mother returned to Durant, Bryan, Oklahoma to have her first child on Indian soil. I finished high school in Kermit. I attended Southeastern State College in Oklahoma for two years before receiving a degree from Sul Ross State in Alpine, Brewster, Texas. In 1980, I obtained another degree form the University of Minnesota. My husband of 57 years and I have two children, six grandchildren, have lived in nine states, Ireland for three years and London, England for seven years. My mother did years of research on our family and hooked me on the subject. I am now trying to identify my father's paternal line past 1850. It has been a very long process which has now offered the interesting question of MAYBE my father was not the child of whom he thought. I am a Bible student, love to read, do yard word and enjoy anything to do with genealogy.

Hi and Welcome Gay!

You should have already received an initial e-mail. It has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team.

When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message here on your profile about your genealogical interests. A volunteer Greeter will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way.

Welcome to the family. We’re really glad you’re here.

Cheers, Liz
