Biography

Gilbert Decker died at his home in Haven, Wednesday, January 10. Death was due to paralysis. He was 63 years, 1 month and 1 day old. For eighteen years he was postmaster of Haven, and his death will be a great loss, as he was a kind father and good neighbor.

Mr. Decker is survived by the following sons and daughters: Stephen, of Wurtsboro; Lewis, of Prospect Hill; Carrie, wife of George Van Keuren; Sybil, wife of Daniel G. Ashworth; and Julia, wife of John Culver, all of this place, and Judd and Annie, at home. His wife Elizabeth Coddington Decker died about four years ago.

The funeral services were held from his late home, Saturday, January 13, Rev. H. C. Ker, of Middletown, officiating. Interment was in the family plot in Westbrookville Cemetery. --Middletown (NY) Daily Times-Press, Friday, January 26, 1912
