Biography
James was born in 1921.
A dedicated musician all his life, James held first horn positions in the Hollywood studios at Columbia, Fox, Paramount and CBS television. He was first horn for Columbia Masterworks recordings with Igor Stravinsky and Bruno Walter. He was first horn with Neville Marriner and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the California Chamber Orchestra.
For over 50 years he was professor of horn at University of Southern California. He was also faculty of Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara for 18 years and faculty of the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine for 5 years.
He passed away in 2013.[1]
