Biography

Elizabeth was the older of two daughters of German immigrants Henry and Barbara Dechert. Her family had a farm in Wellesley Township, Waterloo County, Ontario.[1]

Elizabeth married Martin McCormick when she was about 24 years old. Their only daughter Anna Marie was born about 1904 in Maidstone, Ontario.[2] In 1901, Martin and Elizabeth were living in Arthur village, in Wellington County, with their daughter. Martin was a foreman at a flour mill.[3] By 1921, they had moved to Seaforth, Ontario, where Martin was working as superintendent in a flax mill.[4]

Elizabeth was widowed in 1952. She died at age 82 and is buried with her husband in Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchener.
