The family history I have states that the three brothers (James, Joseph and Samuel) and sister (Naomi) were on their way to Ohio. Just North of Hancock, MD Joseph's 1st wife became ill. James and Samuel continued on to Ohio while Joseph and Naomi stayed to nurse the 1st wife. The 1st wife passed away and Joseph and Naomi stayed in the area. This became known as Deneen Pass. Joseph married Amy Bishop. They live in that area and were buried in the Deneen Cemetery. Here are the directions to find the Deneen Family Cemetery at Deneen's Gap in Fulton County, Pa. Going Northbound on I-70, get off at exit 22 (State Hwy 731). At this point I-70 is running almost E-W. Continue west. As you approach the cross over to I-70, stay to the right and continue up T401. (Do not cross over I-70) About 50 yards north of the intersection is a dirt road on the right which leads to a clearing. The grave site is immediately to the right of the dirt road (just a few feet from the paved road) and back in some woods about 30 feet. The Deneen Cemetery, with a marble monument, a number of tombstones and surrounded by a fence, is back amongst some trees. Alongside and to the east of the Deneen Cemetery is another marble monument marking the grave sites of David Richards, his wife Melinda and daughter Catherine.
Naomi Deneen married James Smith. They were my 4x Great grandparents. They lived about 10 to 15 miles West of Deneen pass (where Joseph and Amy are buried). They were in Bedford County, Southampton (later Mann) TWP.
