Research Note

Place of Hannah's first marriage was not known as Stonington until 1666 and was known by more than one name before then (jurisdiction was claimed by both Massachusetts and Connecticut). Her first child by this marriage was born in October 1660 and the date of the marriage estimated from that fact. THe date of her second marriage appeared in Wheeler (see references) and was inferred from a pre-nuptial agreement made July 15, 1680 (Saxton was about 14 years younger than Hannah).

Hannah’s place of birth is not disputed. Hannah was born at Roxbury, recorded in Roxbury’s Vital Records Vol. I p. 101. The number of white residents at Stonington in 1643 was zero.

Hannah’s will stated she lived at Stonington and that her death was imminent. Presumably she died there. George Denison's family had no connection with Roxbury after 1650. The Barbour Collection (organized by townships in CT) probably has a record of Hannah's death, not necessarily at Stonington but certainly not at Roxbury. Primary or reliable secondary sources are preferred; Ancestry and Family Search are not considered reliable sources. E.g., including her will - excellent. .

In attempting to merge Denison-618 into Denison-12, I noticed that there are discrepancies about both her birth place and death place. Can someone please confirm (citing sources) which are accurate? Thanks.

Two different birth places are shown, both with sources.
