From Nebraska, Marriage Records 1855-1908, James Casey, 54 years married Emma (Emily) Denmead, 37 years, 4th April, 1904, in Beaver City, Furnas County, Nebraska, USA. Emily's parents are listed as Edward Denmead and Levinia (Hunt) Denmead, and James' parents are listed as John Case, and Ellen (Hanlon) Casey.

In 1920 Federal Census James Casey, 69 years, born about 1851 in Ireland, arriving in USA in 1870, living in Wiggins, Morgan, Colorado, married to Emily Casey, daughter Anna, 14 years, occupation farmer, owning home free of mortgage.

10 April 2018- Family sources relate that James Casey captained, or served on a steamboat prior to his settlement in NE and CO. It also was thought he was married prior to his marriage to Emily Denmead, as I suspected from his age at the time of their marriage.

Another 1920 Federal Census lists Emily Casey, 58 years, born about 1862 in England, immigrated to USA 1870, mother and father born in England, James Casey, 69 years, husband, and Anna E. Casey, 14 years, daughter born in Nebraska.

1940 Federal Census Emily is listed as a lodger with the Keller family of Ft. Morgan, Colorado. She is listed as a widow, born in England in 1866, age given as 74 years.

In burial records Emily Casey is listed as being born 25 October 1867, and her death is shown as 26 February 1946, in Ft. Morgan, Colorado. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery.

"Find A Grave Index," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV21-MBGV : 13 December 2015), Emily Casey, 1946; Burial, Fort Morgan, Morgan, Colorado, United States of America, Riverside Cemetery; citing record ID 86614855, Find a Grave, http://www.findagrave.com.

In various census information both James and Emily are listed as immigrating to the United States in 1870, and becoming naturalized citizens in 1909. In passenger lists James Casey (born about 1950 in Ireland), arrival date is 1 June 1870, New York, New York, on the ship named City of Manchester, departure from Liverpool.

"United States Census, 1940," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VR6L-V9R : accessed 5 April 2018), Emily Casey in household of Dave Keller, Ward 1, Fort Morgan, Election Precinct 14, Morgan, Colorado, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) 44-2, sheet 4B, line 51, family 89, Sixteenth Census of the United States, 1940, NARA digital publication T627. Records of the Bureau of the Census, 1790 - 2007, RG 29. Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 2012, roll 472.

Interesting note: * In a draft registration for WWI, 1917-1918 - Platte, Polk, Red Willow, Richardson counties, Nebraska, a Matthew Denmead is listed as born 25 October 1894, Cambridge, Nebraska, and again for WWII, 27 April 1942, Matthew registered for the draft, listing residence as Wiggins, Morgan County, Colorado, and giving Mrs. Emily Casey of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, as relative. In a 1930 Census a Mattaw (mis-reading for Matthew, I believe) was shown in Weldona, Morgan, Colorado, born in 1897 of mother and father born in England. Matthew Denmead died in 1977.

10 April 2018- Family relates that Matthew Denmead and Emily Denmead were half brother and sister, and that there was another half-sister named Florence Denmead. This would suggest a prior marriage for Edwin (Edward?) Denmead. There was no mention of Emma or Ellen Denmead, so may be some conflation between families. Discovered from family sources that many records were destroyed in Nebraska during the Civil War, hence the difficulty of locating source material.
