Educated in Scotland. She came to America in 1811 when fourteen years old, first arriving in Charleston, SC. Came to Rutherford Co., TN in 1814. She spoke Latin. Always wore a lace cap, she had brown eyes, naturally curly hair, was plump and no t tall. She spoke with a Scottish burr. She was very beautiful and her first husband called her "pretty bird".
