Biography

Rebecca Denny was born on 20 Aug 1850, according to the funeral home marker on her grave.[1]

Isaac Adamson and Rebecca Ann Denny were married in Urbana, Champaign, Illinois, on 25 Oct 1865.[2] From US Census and other records, Isaac and Rebecca had at least the following children:

  • Cora A., b. 12 April 1870 Kansas; m. Francis Marion Stockwell; d. 22 Feb 1949
  • son M. E., b. ca. 1873 Kansas; probably died before 1880
  • Lilly, b. ca. 1876 Kansas; probably died before 1885
  • John Wesley, b. 3 Sept 1877 Kansas; d. Jan 1960
  • Ida M., b. Nov 1882 Kansas; d. 1900?
  • Jessie James, b. 10 May 1886 Kansas; d. 11 Jan 1963[3]
  • Burt Harrison, b. 15 Nov 1888 Kansas; d. 29 Sept 1971[4]
  • Luzena (Lota L.), b. 22 Sept 1891 Oklahoma; m. John Benjamin Work; d. 27 May 1947[5]
  • Frederick, b. Jan 1894 Oklahoma; d. 1968[6]

In 1870, I. Adamson, a 26 year old farmer b. Indiana, lived in Clifton Township, Wilson, Kansas, with A. Adamson, 27 b. Indiana, and daughter C. A. Adamson, 0-4/12 years olf b. Kansas.[7]

In 1875, I. R. Adamson and R. Adamson, daughter C. A. and son M. E., lived in Fall River Township, Wilson County, Kansas. They had come to Kansas from Indiana.[8]

In 1880, Rebecca A. Adamson and her husband Isaac were farming in Fall River Township, Wilson County, Kansas, with three children, all born in Kansas.[9]

In 1885, I. Adamson and R. A. Adamson were living in Fall River Township. Isaac served in the US Civil War in Co. C, 70th Indiana Infantry.[10]

In 1890, Isaac R. Adamson, 42, and Rebecca A., 40, lived in Township 19, Logan County, Oklahoma, with four children. Isaac served in Co. C., 75th Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the US Civil War.[11]

In 1900, Rebecca and Isaac Adamson were living on a farm they owned in Orlando, Logan County, Oklahoma Territory, with five children.[12]

In 1910, "Isic" and "Rehbeckey" Adamson were living in Eason Township, Pottawatomie, Oklahoma.[13]

On 19 July 1920, Rebecca Ann Adamson, the widow of Isaac R. Adamson, started to receive a Widow's Pension based on Isaac's service as a private, Co. C, 75th Indiana Infantry in the US Civil War.[14]

In 1930, Rebecca "N." Adamson, an 80 year old widow, lived in Tecumseh, Pottawatomie, Oklahoma. Two sons, Bert H. and Fred, both water well drillers, are living with her.[15]

Rebecca Adamson died on 20 May 1936 and is buried in the Box Cemetery, Cleveland County, Oklahoma.[1] You can see a picture of the funeral home marker on her grave at FindAGrave.
