James Lehman Dent, born in 1856, he was my great uncle, however he did not die in the Civil War, he was at most 9 years old when the conflict ended, and as you have indicated, your James married and had children.
His father, James Evans Dent, died in the Union Prison Camp at Point Lookout, MD. One of James E. Dent's sons William B. Dent was killed in the same engagement that James was captured. They were serving with the 19th Virginia Cavalry. I do believe that he was not the only James Dent killed in the Civil War. James's wife was named Jane Beaty.[1]
