Biography

Mary Ann Dent Longstreet is the mother of the famous CSA General, politician, and statesman James G. Lonstreet, Jr. (1821 - 1904), and the sister-on-law of the famous author, politician, and educator Augustus Baldwin Longstreet (1790 - 1870). [1]

Mary Ann Dent's ancestors settled in the Colony of Maryland in the 1670s. Her father, Thomas Marshall Dent, was a cousin of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall. [2]

March 13, 1793 -- Mary Ann Dent was born at Maryland, USA. Mary Ann Dent was a daughter of General Thomas Marshall Dent and Ann Magruder. [3]

1812 -- Mary Ann Dent's parents, Thomas Marshall and Ann Magrider Dent, and her grandparents, George and Anna Maria Truman Dent, moved their families from Maryland to Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. [4]

December 14, 1814 -- Mary Ann Dent and James G. Longstreet, Sr. (1783 - 1833) married at Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. [5]

1815 - 1831 -- James G. and Mary Ann Dent Longstreet had 11 children: eight daughters (Anna, Sarah-Jane, Henrietta, Rebecca, Julia, Eliza Parke, Maria Nelson, and Sarah Jane) and two sons (William Dent, John, and James G., Jr.). [6]

What is your reference that George and Anna Maria Truman Dent are her grandparents? DAR records indicate that John Dent and Sarah Marshall are grandparents. I just added George Dent, son of John Dent and he is not old enough to be the father of Thomas Marshall Dent. Please take a look at the newly created profile Dent-1856 and give me your ideas.
