Sophia Dent was the first white girl born In the Swan River Colony on September 1, 1829.[1][2][3] Her parents were Thomas Dent and Elizabeth Dodd. Sophia was the 4th child out of 9 but was the first to be born in Western Australia.
She first married William Charles Ellery on 5 August 1847 in Perth[4]. When he died in 1860[5] she married William Mitchell (her name was recorded as Elleray) in 1861, again in Perth [6][7].
Sophia died on 16 December 1900 in Irwin Shire, Western Australia, Australia.[8]. Sophia was buried in Dongara Cemetery, Dongara, Irwin Shire, Western Australia[9].
