Rebecca Denton was born on 2 February 1757 in Franklin, North Carolina. Rebecca married Henry Porch on 12 December 1786 in Franklin, NC. She died, aged 109, on 18 February 1866 in Whitley, Kentucky, and is buried with family at Jellico Creek Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kentucky.[1]
Rebecca’s husband Henry Porch was a Revolutionary War veteran. She is mentioned in court records for her husband’s plea to obtain his Soldiers Pension when he was about 67, and had become disabled.[2]
In 1860, Rebecca lived with her son and daughter-in-law.
In 1860, the Porch family lived in Somerset, Pulaski, Kentucky. All members of the household were born in North Carolina. The household included Ezekiel A. Porch, 71, a farmer with $1500 in real estate and $250 in personal estate; (his wife) Mary B. Porch, 69; and (his mother) Rebecca Porch, 105. In the line where Rebecca appears, it is written, “over 100 years old.”[3]
