Pierre Desjardins was born around 1699 at Montgardon (Saint-Jean), ev. Coutances, Normandie, France. He was the son of Jean Desjardins and Marie Clermont. [1] [2]
At age 25, on 24 May 1723, Pierre married Marie Madeleine Richard, who was already widowed at age 35, at Pointe-aux-Trembles (Île-de-Montréal), in Nouvelle-France. [1] [2] [3]
Unfortunately, Marie Madeleine Richard died just a few years after their marriage, on 7 Oct 1726, survived by a son Jean Baptiste Lambeye from her first marriage. [2]
Following the death of his first wife, and still just 29 years old, Pierre Desjardins married Marie Anne Brien, age 22, on 9 Sep 1727, at Varennes, near Montréal. [2] [3] [4]
Pierre and Marie Anne Brien had eleven children together from 1728 to 1747, including five girls and seven boys. [4]
Pierre and family lived through the French and Indian War (beginning in 1754), which was the North American theatre of Europe's Seven Years' War among France, Great Britain and their conflicting allies - but referred to in Québec as La Guerre de la Conquête - following which their homeland was ceded to Great Britain. [5] [6]
Pierre died on 29 Jun 1767, age 69, at Varennes, which had become part of the Province of Quebec in British America. He was survived by his wife, and at least five of their children who had gone on the marry. [3] [4]
