Biography

Christopher Dexter was born about 1768, likely at Smithfield, Rhode Island son of son of Jonathan Dexter and Alice Lowe. ^[1]

He was a farmer and lived near the Lime Rocks in Smithfield, on the original estate, first purchased by Rev. Gregory Dexter for his son Stephen. ^[1]

Christoper married Betsey Whipple of Cumberland on December 10, 1789. She was born there on Jan. 9, 1768, the daughter of Eleazer and Anne Whipple. ^{[2] [1]}

Christopher died in 1842.
