Biography

Bernardo di Miceli, the son of Antonino di Miceli and Lucia Carrabba, is born on 29 April 1842 in Corleone.[1] Bernardo is named after his paternal grandfather.

Bernardo's double cousin of the same name is a broker by trade.

Bernardo marries Antonina Marino on 23 February 1862. His father has died by this time.[2]

Bernardo and Antonina have at least five children: Antonino (1867), Giovanna (c. 1879), Caterina (1880), Maria Giuseppa (1885), and Rosalia (c. 1886).

Bernardo and Antonina stand as godparents to Maria Carmela Cascio in 1865.

Antonino is born 18 March 1867 and baptized the next day, named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Giuseppe Patella and Biagia Giglio, a married couple.[3]

In 1869, Bernardo and Antonina stand as godparents to Michele Navarra.

In 1875, Bernardo is one of several relatives who give permission in 1875 for his cousin Biagia Piranio to marry. Based on his age in this record, he is born around 1844.[4]

Giovanna's birthdate is not yet known. I estimate she is born before Caterina, because Giovanna marries first. Caterina is born 20 October 1880 and baptized two days later. Her godfather is Giovanni Guarino, who is unmarried.[5]

Maria Giuseppa is born and baptized 28 June 1885. Her godparents are Vincenzo di Carlo and Santa Castro, a married couple.[6]

I estimate Rosalia is born around 20 years before she marries (c. 1886).

Giovanna marries Angelo Gagliano on 2 February 1902.[7]

Caterina marries Don Giuseppe Navarra on 13 October 1903. Bernardo and Antonina are both still living.[8]

Rosalia marries Antonino Cascio on 28 November 1906. This marriage record contains a dispensation, dated 16 November, required due to second and third degree consanguinity.[9]
