"If we now return to the other Thomas Manning, who married Rose Dickens on July 18th 1720 in Ringstead Parish Church, we find that there are no baptisms for this couple in the Ringstead Registers. It seems likely that they were Baptists (until the mid nineteenth century only Ringstead Parish Church was licensed for marriages in the village). The Parish Register does record the burial of Mary Manning, daughter of Thomas and Rose on February 14th 1739 (almost certainly as a small child) but that is ll"[1]
