Waitstill served 2 month during the winter of early 1776 in Captain Selah H(e)art's 3rd Company of Colonel Erastus Wolcott's Connecticut Regiment and participated in the siege of Boston, by March 17, 1776 all British major military activities in the New England colonies ceased.[4]

The record shows that Waitstill again served as a Corporal in a Company Commanded by Captain Reuben Dickinson of Colonel Elisha Porter's 4th Hampshire County Regiment which participated in the battle of Monmouth New Jersey, and was fought on June 28, 1778.[5] It is not known if Waitstill was in the Expedition to Saragota with this Regiment prior to the action at Monmouth New Jersey.
Waitstill was a Constable 1779 and was active in Shay's Rebellion,[6] he took the Oath of Allegiance February 1787.[7]
