John was said to have been born about 1882 and killed in action (in France) during WW1. [1]
Within the Dietrich family in Australia, it was believed that Harry Dietrich's father was John Henry Dietrich, although John Henry's date and place of birth were not known. It was also believed that John Henry was killed in France while serving with the British Army during WW1, and that Harry's mother, Grace (Ellis) re-married prior to the end of the War. Grace, her son, Harry, and their new husband/father, Albert Comfort then migrated to Australia about 1919.
To date, no birth date or place has been established for John Henry Dietrich and, from Commonwelth War Graves Commission (CWGC) records, there was no John Henry Dietrich killed during WW1.
