I have Dillard/ Dilliard genealogy going back to England. !st immigrant George Dilliard b. Wiltshire England died 1704 Virginia colony.UK

He was gr grandson of Carbonne Dilliard of France who died in England 1561-1610 My family branch changed the spelling to Dillard in the 1800.s as it was misspelled on many legal documents. I believe others did as well' Merritt was born in NC immigrated to Carroll Co MS around 1805,

I too, have Dillard ancestry, and I knew the original Dillard who stepped on Virginia soil was named George. But I didn't know any more than that. A distant relative of mine, Steven Dillard, has worked on the "Dillards of Oklahoma", and I wonder if he has this information. Merritt was the father of Josiah Hamilton Dillard who married into the LaFlore's who had Choctaw ties---the wealthy Chief Greenwood LaFlore had an extensive plantation in Mississippi (how they ended up in Oklahoma). Along with the LaFlore's there are strong links to the Scottish highlander clan, the McGillivrays through Chief Alexander McGillivray, son of Lachlan, who was sent to the colonies by his brothers, as they well knew there would be trouble for the clan with the advent of Bonnie Prince Charlie. Chief Alexander was chief of the Creek nation, through his mother.

Well, anyway, just a piece of information.
