↑ Source: #S247 Data: Text: About Michaelmas in this year (note:1653) Oliver Cromwell, General of the Army, assembled severall persons of each county in England at Westminster; this company called themselves the Parliament, and made an order wherein they disallowed marriages solemnized by the Minister, and so all persons were appointed to go to the Justice of the Peace to be married. At these marriages J[ohn] B[edford], R[ector], G[errans], was seldom present. The Register chosen for Gerrans was Robert Scantlebury, clerk; he hath registered No Marriages, 1654-5-6. CONT The reason why Robert Scantlebury did not register any marriages at Gerrans in these three years was because they were performed before Justices of the Peace at Truro, where they are duly recorded in St. Mary's Parish Registers... CONT The following refer to Gerrans people: CONT ...Thomas Dulon & Dorothy Wollcoke, of Gerrans.. 24 Ap. 1655
