Biography

Tyree Thomas Dillon was born in 1826 in Franklin County, Virginia. He was the son of William Dillon and Mary Plybon Starkey Dillon.

Tyree married his first cousin Ann Elizabeth Divers in 1858. She was the daughter of Thomas Divers and Lydia Plybon. Ann's mother and Tyree's mother were sisters.

Tyree enlisted 18 March 1862 in the 43rd Militia (Shaon's) and later in the 57th Infantry. He was discharged 10 May 1862.

Tyree farmed and raised a family of about 11 children.

He passed away in 1906, intestate, in Franklin Co. and was buried in the Dillon Cemetery near Wirtz, VA.

After Tyree and Ann died, in 1909, their heirs were too numerous to partition the land owned by Tyree, so the land was sold at auction. Daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, and her husband Charles Carroll Plybon became the buyers. Other heirs named at the time were: John T. Dillon, James E. Dillon, Jesse L. Dillon, William T. Dillon, Christopher D. Dillon, Sallie E. Plyourne, Berta Jefferson, Lucy Divers, Mollie Dillon and Liddie Dillon (Johnson). All were over 21 at the time.
