Samuel M. Dills, son of Henry Dills and Suzanne Stratton, was born on 15 May 1862 in Macon Co., NC. He passed away on 31 October 1826 in Cartoogechaye[1] and was buried in Old Cartoogechaye Baptist Church Cemetery, Macon County.[2]
Marriage
Samuel married Ellen V. Drake on 17 November 1878 in Macon County, North Carolina. They had six children,[3] five of whom can be identified:
For a few years, about 1886-1892, Samuel had a relationship with Mary Jane Ledford. They were never married and Samuel continued living with his wife, Ellen. Samuel and Mary Jane had two children:
Samuel and Mary Jane's children sometimes used the surname Ledford, but as adults they were called Dills.
