Laurent and Yoshiko Ohier mention the following sources for their Dinan pedigree:
Mathurin Monier, in "Dinan mille ans d'histoire", Saint-Brieuc, 1968
André Chédeville, Middle-age history professor at the "Universite de Haute-Bretagne de Rennes II", "Dinan au temps des seigneurs, des origines a 1283"
Admiral Jean Metayer, "Dynasties des seigneurs de Dinan"
Jean-Michel Dunoyer de Segonzac, "Une grande maison chevaleresque: les Dinan-Montafilant"
The last three sources based their studies on mainly 4 sources:
A-Mathurin Monier (see above)
B-René Kerviler, in "Bio-bibliographie bretonne", Rennes, 1904
C-Comtesse de la Motte-Rouge, in "Les Dinan et leurs juveigneurs", Nantes, 1892
D-Mathurin Le Giemble, in "La chronique de Dinan sous ses seigneurs particuliers", 19th century, never published (a copy is at the Dinan library)
The Ohiers did not use the following sources by Michael Jones:
“Les branches anglaises des seigneurs de Dinan,” in Dinan au Moyen Age, ed. Loic-Rene Vilbert (1986), 221-35; which was subsequently issued in an expanded bilingual edition: The Family of Dinan in England in the Middle Ages (1987) 62pp.

Birth date is more likely before 965. He is reportedly either the grandson or the youngest son of Alain "Strongbeard" of De Nantes (c910-962) <wiki#Bretagne-158>
John - I think you are right. Unfortunately I don't have time right now to research is actual parents but I think a couple of generations were missed between them. Perhaps you can just detach them from Hamon.
Terri - you might be right. The date of "970" was posted by someone in the Netherlands who is much closer to the sources but that would have made his father 16 yrs old when he was born. It was a custom at that time to betroth/wed at very young ages among royalty to merge family ties &/or properties.

He also is said to have became Vicomte by marriage.
